Obviously we love watching Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s every style move, but their glamorous princess, er duchess, looks can feel out of reach for our everyday lives. But when you think about it, many of their formal ensembles actually make sense for our own dressed-up affairs — think weddings or even date night. We're taking a look at outfits from both the Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge that could easily translate to any type of wedding you have coming up, from black tie to cocktail. Keep scrolling and shop each style to be that best-dressed guest — just like the royals.
Black Tie: A statement-making floor-length gown is most appropriate for a formal wedding. Something like Middleton's intricate Alexander McQueen lace number from the 2017 National Portrait Gallery Gala would turn all the heads. (Photo via Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty)
Markle went for a Safiyaa top and skirt at The Royal Variety Performance in November 2018, which slays for a fancy occasion because it mimics the silhouette of a gown but with a more customized fit. (Photo via Samir Hussein/Getty)

Casual: While a long gown isn’t necessary, a sophisticated dress above the knee is the way to go here. We're all about the lavender Emilia Wickstead frock that Middleton wore to the Global Mental Health Summit in October 2018. (Photo via Max Mumby/Getty)
A simple dress with interesting details like Markle’s Dion Lee wrap-style stunner from her Australian tour in 2018 is a smart option for a casual wedding. (Photo via Samir Hussein/Getty)
Shop casual dresses:Donna Morgan Crepe Short Split Sleeve Fit and Flare Dress ($106)
Cocktail: Pull out a party dress for semi-formal nuptials à la the mint green shimmery Missoni that the Duchess of Cambridge rocked at the Empire Music Hall Belfast in February. (Photo via Samir Hussein/Getty)
More classic vibes also work for cocktail-style weddings. Just take a cue from Markle’s outfit at the Auckland War Memorial Museum event in October 2018 with her modern strapless Antoni Berardi dress. (Photo via Chris Jackson/Getty)
Shop cocktail dresses:H&M Lace Dress ($80)
Beach Formal: You can’t go wrong with a sweet floral ensemble for a seaside event. The purple chiffon Kate Spade New York dress that Middleton celebrated World Mental Health Day in back in 2016 is particularly appropriate with coordinating neutral heels. (Photo via Max Mumby/Getty)
Go bold like Markle by donning a gown inspired by her vibrant patterned Caroline Herrera dress during her February visit in Morocco. (Photo via Samir Hussein/Getty)
