We’re adding this to our must-see list in 2019.
Cate Blanchett Is a Mom on the Run in the First Trailer for ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’
There are already dozens of movies we’re looking forward to seeing in 2019, and while the majority of the standouts so far are big-action blockbusters, the first trailer for Where’d You Go, Bernadette promises a quirky family comedy.
Cate Blanchett stars as Bernadette Fox, a Seattle woman with a life that many would envy: a great marriage, a whip-smart teenage daughter, and a career as a respected architect. But then she suddenly goes missing.
“Something unexpected has come up,” Blanchett’s character says in the trailer. “It has much more explanation coming, but I have this one shot.”
Her disappearance occurs just before a family trip to Antarctica. Bernadette’s daughter, Bee Branch (Emma Nelson), leads the efforts to find her mother, combing through emails and other documents left behind. The family even makes the trip to the ice-covered continent in hopes of uncovering some clues.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette is based on the massively popular novel of the same name by Maria Semple, and was directed by Richard Linklater (Boyhood). It also stars Billy Crudup as Bernadette’s husband, and Kristen Wiig as the nosy neighbor. Troian Bellisario, Judy Greer, and James Urbaniak also star.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette is in theaters March 22, 2019.
