Why You Probably Shouldn’t Take Voting Advice from Meghan Trainor
Meghan Trainor has always been very vocal about issues that matter to many women. Whether she’s trying to destroy the term “plus-size,” or she’s smashing Hollywood’s non-stop desire to Photoshop every single female by walking the walk in un-retouched music videos, we’ve always been able to count on the “All About That Bass” singer to tell it like it is and stand up for what’s right. For all the good work she’s done furthering her very inclusive ideals, there’s one area that we’re thinking we probably shouldn’t take advice from Meghan in: politics.
In an interview with Billboard Magazine, the singer was asked about her thoughts on this year’s Presidential campaign. While she starts off strong, talking a bit about who she thinks the GOP and Dem candidates will be, she quickly goes off the rails by telling people who she would vote for… if she ever voted, which she doesn’t. Needless to say, people are not exactly impressed:
Meghan Trainor should use her celebrity to influence her fans to vote. This is not surprising but so disappointing: https://t.co/XtbdncqKCF

Every now and then I like to check in on celebs I already knew were the worst and make sure they're still the worst: https://t.co/XGWWsAD8H7

Meghan Trainor's words on having "no desire" to vote make this an ideal time to rewatch the Bad Romance suffrage vidhttps://t.co/azjtvG9TLS

While we appreciate her honesty in admitting that she doesn’t vote, we’re definitely not taking what she says to heart, and know that regardless of which party and candidate you choose, it’s probably a smart idea to hit the voting booths in November.
When was the first time you voted? Tell us @BritandCo!
