Cozy Up With 20 Winter Wedding Favors
There’s something magical about winter weddings. For one, you can never tell how many goosebumps and chattering teeth were involved in the stunning outdoor photos. The other magic comes from the imagination of brides and grooms who put forth all kinds of effort into making sure the celebration and the details are just as stunning as the winter wonderland outside. If you’re having a winter hitching and need some creative ideas for your wedding favors, consider these 20 favors that we favor.
1. Mittens: Not only would this make a good gift for your bridesmaids, but we love the idea of gloves or mittens for guests, too. (via Perez Photography)
2. Hot Chocolate: Easy to make and adorable when layered in a glass vial, a homemade hot cocoa mix will please just about everybody. Including us. (via Michelle Edgemont)
3. S’mores Kits: Good ol’ s’mores kits — they work for every season, and even though every other wedding seems to include s’mores, it’s never a bad idea. There’s even a company or two out there that will customize your marshmallows. (via Fondly Forever Photography)
4. Pinecone Fire Starters: We didn’t start the fire… but we did find these fire starters that are made by dipping pine cones in beeswax. It’s an easy project, and the results are both useful and photogenic. (via Evermine)
5. Ornament: If you’re getting hitched during the holiday season, these laser-cut wooden tree ornaments ($2) can double as decor for your wedding and then later on everyone’s trees.
6. DIY Hand Warmers: Oh gosh, these are cute. These homemade hand warmers are easy to make and quite useful if you and most of your guests are from a cold climate. They just take 20 seconds in the microwave to heat up. (via Rae Ann Kelly)
7. Snow Globes: Ask your friends with babies to save their baby food jars (all of them), then make these adorable little snow globes. You can even throw in some plastic woodland creatures or dinosaurs in there. (via Whipperberry)
8. Pine Trees: Give each of your guests a Baby Groot. (via Amanda Hein Photography)
9. Mulling Spices: Using cheesecloth, this blogger put together the cutest little mulling spice kit with cinnamon, cloves, star anise, vanilla bean and orange zest. (via Livia)
10. Wedding Lip Balm Favors: Your love is the balm. Everybody and their grandma needs lip balm in the winter, so this is a thoughtful favor that you can either DIY or have customized for you. (via Something Turquoise)
11. Mug: You could collect vintage mugs or have custom mugs printed up to commemorate the day and to hold hot drinks for the rest of the winter. Rather than throwing your boring old initials on it, consider monogramming the mugs for each guest or making everybody LOL when they pick up their mug that says, “I went to Lindsey and Brett’s wedding and all I got was this lousy mug.” (via Ruffled)
12. Birdseed DIY Ornament: The blogger claims this project is so easy that a second grader could make them. They’re inexpensive and a cool way to give a nod to nature if you’re throwing a rustic winter soiree. (via Intimate Weddings)
13. Popcorn: There are a few ways to approach the popcorn idea. You could have a popcorn bar (with different flavors, perhaps) and let guests serve themselves. You could also put together some popcorn seasonings in a spice shaker. Or your could just go straight kernels, ready for popping during hibernation season. (via Evermine)
14. Fried Herbed Almonds: Who needs chestnuts roasting when you can have fried herbed almonds? Buy or make them in bulk and then stamp goodie bags for your guests. And for the record, we’d be okay with the roasted chestnut idea, too. (via Evermine)
15. Socks: So cute and unexpected, socks are great for the dance floor when the shoes come off and great for every day, too. (via Brit + Co)
16. Locally Roasted Coffee: Give your guests some local flavor by supporting your favorite coffee roaster, or perhaps set them up with some beans that come from your honeymoon destination. Tea would also be a fun option if you’re not a coffee drinker. (via Green Wedding Shoes)
17. DIY Coffee Sleeves: Felted coffee cozies are super easy to make, according to this tutorial. You could easily customize these for your wedding by making an assortment of colors that fit your scheme. (via Purlbee)
18. Maple Syrup ($3): Love is sweet, and so is this maple syrup. We suggest including your favorite pumpkin pancake recipe on a tag.
19. Matches: Back in the day, matches were the wedding favor. We think you should bring it back with these ultra-stylish matches that will be perfect for fireplaces and cozy candles alike. (via Julep)
20. Mini Champagnes: A question was popped. Now, a cork should be. These mini champagne bottles are perfect for a New Year’s Eve wedding. (via Junebug Weddings)
