Women Are Protesting Donald Trump and the GOP in New York City
The Republican Party’s week seems to be getting worse. Between Donald Trump’s violent remarks from 2005 being released last week and his abysmal showing at Sunday’s Presidential Debate, the GOP is scrambling to save themselves further embarrassment. Women, however, are taking this as an opportunity to speak up and out regarding sexual assault, and now, a group in NYC are taking their anger to the streets in protest against the Republican candidate for President.
Using the hashtags #TrumpVsAllOfUs and #GOPHandsOffMe, approximately 50 women are blocking the entrance of Trump Tower in downtown NYC with a clear message: The women of the US won’t take hurtful language against us anymore.
With the bombshell release of the 2005 Access Hollywood hot mic recordings, men and women across all party lines have been outraged. The other person on the tape, Today Show anchor Billy Bush, has been suspended indefinitely from his job at NBC, yet Trump remains in the running, due in part to the legality around presidential nominations.
While we aren’t sure how this protest will play out, we are glad that this latest scandal is, at the very least, helping more women raise their voices to be heard in what’s quickly become the most scandal-filled election in recent memory.
