This Is the Braid You Should Rock for All of Your Summer Workouts
It’s 6am and you have to get your workout in before starting your day. URGH! We feel you, and that’s why this rope braid is the answer to your morning prayers. This gorgeous ultra-tough braid packs a punch, and it can handle just about any workout routine. Consider this DIY the extra motivation you need in the morning to get your fitness on. It’ll keep strands in place, hold frizz at bay and get you feeling light and fresh without breaking a sweat twisting it into place. Yep, this roping method is easy to accomplish with just two strands, making it a breeze for braiding novices.
Try this style pre-workout, wear “as-is” post-workout or rework the style with wet hair after you’ve showered at the gym. This style is a real time-saver, not to mention game-changer for the dog days of summer.
STEP 1: CREATE YOUR FIRST ROPE
Create your first rope braid at the back of your head. A rope braid is done by only using two strands (instead of three) and braiding your hair in a similar fashion as you would a three-strand braid. Rope your two strands together by grabbing hair closest to the scalp (strand one) and twisting it with your outside strand (strand two). Keep tension on both strands to maintain your rope braid tight and secure.
Work your way across your head until you reach your opposite ear and secure with a rubber band near the lower portion of your earlobe.
STEP 2: CREATE YOUR SECOND ROPE
Apply the same roping technique to the front of your head, moving quickly so as to not to unravel the rope.
STEP 3: KNOT YOUR ROPES
Knot your front rope with your back rope by wrapping your second (smaller front) rope around the rubber banded section of your first (larger back) rope.
STEP 4: CREATE YOUR THIRD (+ FINAL!) ROPE
Rope the remaining ponytail by wrapping two strands around each other and secure with an elastic band.
Now you’re ready to take on any workout, in or outside the gym.
This beauty will stay put through your fitness routine and carry you through the rest of your day. Really, what more could you ask for in a braid?
We love that this braid looks gorgeous from every angle and instantly dresses up your look. Pair with some SPF tinted moisturizer and some lip gloss and you’re ready to take on the world!
