WTF: Krispy Kreme’s Newest Donut Flavor Is Totally Unexpected
We’re pretty much willing to try anything when it comes to donuts — and we do mean anything (inception donuts, anyone?). We were even on board for these vegan matcha green tea donuts!
But we have to say, we’re a little perplexed over one of the flavor combos that Krispy Kreme is now offering its Japanese customers. While its new lemon glazed donut seems standard enough, it’s the description of the watermelon — yes, watermelon — flavor that has us scratching our heads.

According to the company’s Japanese website, the donut is made of “watermelon fruit juice with chocolate chips,” with a green frosting rind made from “watermelon-flavored chocolate.”

Whoa, whoa, whoa: Chocolate and watermelon mixed? Seriously? We don’t know about this.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to find out anytime soon if it’s surprisingly delicious or tastes as weird as it sounds: Currently, the donut is not available stateside.
We know, we know — bummer, right? At least we have those Jolly Rancher chillers?
Here’s hoping for an international launch!
