WTF: Now You Can Register to Vote With Twitter
Here’s news that isn’t really news: Election season is here. But this year, things are a bit different. And you may have already noticed it… and no, we don’t just mean the ramped up pre-election drama. It feels like practically every major social media network is checking up on users to make sure they’re registered to vote.
Twitter just jumped on board with a new @Gov account. If you slide into the account’s DMs, it will help you figure out your state’s deadlines for registration and get you on the path to register to vote. Tell the Twitter account your zip code and it will give you step-by-step exact instructions. (Sorry, you have no excuses anymore for not registering to rock the vote!) The account will also answer questions about deadlines, polling locations and ballot information.
And once you’ve registered through @Gov, you can tweet out with #IRegistered. It will show up with a special emoji, and when your followers click on it, they’ll be directed to a link that will help them get registered to vote too. Your daily dose of social media activism just got way easier. Now you just have to get out there and rock the vote.
