Yay! Arrested Development Season 5 Is Coming to Netflix
The TV tides appear to be turning, as the brutal cancellation of shows like Sleepy Hollow begin to taper off and updates for new series plans (like the Grey’s Anatomy fire fighter-themed spinoff) and resurrected reboots (Dynasty drama, FTW!) start to buzz. We’ve just gotten word of yet another old fave that’s getting new life, and this one has fans totally freaking: Arrested Development is coming to Netflix for the highly anticipated (yet until this point uncertain) fifth season!
After gaining a small yet loyal following while airing on Fox for three seasons from 2004 to 2006, the show continued to gain cult-like popularity even after it was axed, prompting an unexpected fourth season nearly a decade later, in 2013. News has buzzed about the possibility of a fifth season for years now, but it’s finally been confirmed, as the big wigs at Netflix have announced that the Bluths will be back once more in 2018.
And yes, that’s ALL of the Bluths. The entire original regular cast is set to return, including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, and Alia Shawkat.
“In talks with Netflix, we all felt that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days,” series’ creator Mitchell Hurwitz said in a totally cheeky statement, according to Variety. “I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life.”
Oh, we get it, hehehehe! And ouch.
