You Can Now Place Your Starbucks Order With Alexa
Artificial intelligence and digital assistants are taking the world by storm. Alexa has more skills than ever, and Siri and Google Assistant have plenty of useful tools as well. These platforms leverage one of the tools that we all carry every day — our voice. Starbucks just announced that they will let customers order using their voice through a new Alexa skill and the Starbucks mobile app.
The new Alexa skill is called Starbucks Reorder and allows customers to place their usual orders as they go about their days. Now all you need to do is say, “Alexa, order my Starbucks.” How’s that for great service?!
The new mobile app feature called My Starbucks Barista is powered by AI and allows people to order and pay for their food and drinks with their voice. The messaging interface will be familiar to new and veteran users of the app, and it allows customers to speak or text just like they were talking to a barista IRL, drink customizations included.
My Starbucks barista is currently in beta and will only be available to one thousand customers. Starbucks is planning to roll out the new feature as summer 2017 approaches, and we should see an Android version later this year.
