You’ll Have to Buy Those Snapchat Sunglasses from a Vending Machine
Just a little while ago, Snapchat introduced a physical product that we all got super excited about: Spectacles. If you don’t remember, here’s your refresher: Spectacles are sunglasses with built-in cameras that let you record and upload video to Snapchat. Well, now the day that seemed so far away is here: The sunglasses are for sale. But there’s a catch —you’re going to have to JUMP to get your hands on the Snap sunglasses.
Spectacles will be sold exclusively from a pop-up, bright yellow vending machine called “Bots.” The vending machine will pop up for one day only in locations around the country. The first pop-up is today in Venice Beach, California. Snapchat users who are eager to get their hands on the sunglasses can keep an eye on this online map that will highlight the vending machine’s location every day.
No worries if the pop-up vending machine doesn’t come to a town near you. The machine model of selling will only apply for a few months, then Snap is likely to go back to selling them the old-fashioned way: in stores. The sunglasses come in three colors and sell for $130.
