The New Year’s Resolution for You, According to Your Zodiac Sign
After the excitement of New Year's Eve settles, you're left to think about what the upcoming year brings — or at least what you hope it will. Enter the New Year's resolution. After years of maxing out on the treadmill midway through January or pledging and failing to go paleo, some of you may have given up on New Year's resolutions, but we've tailored a list of the most practical and appropriate resolutions based on your star sign to make keeping up with them as easy as ever. Here's what you should attempt this year!
ARIES (MARCH 21-APRIL 19)
Get more sleep. Aries, your obsession with efficiency and your “go, go, go" attitude have caused you to forgo sleep in the past, but no more. This year, you should prioritize getting to bed on time. Because, hey, if you get in your full eight hours, you can be that much more productive during the other 16.
TAURUS (APRIL 20-MAY 20)
Organize your space. You've lived a full life, Taurus, but now you have a full closet. Spend these upcoming months sorting through your belongings, throwing away the junk, and donating the unneeded. With a tidier home, you'll soon have room to accomplish your other goals.
GEMINI (MAY 21-JUNE 20)
Spend less time on social media. Your social personality, love for chitchat, and aversion to alone time draw you to social media more so than others, which is why we're challenging you to set your cell down this year. Focus on and prioritize yourself this year — you deserve it.
CANCER (JUNE 21-JULY 22)
Be more social. Next time you get invited to a block party or office kickback, RSVP a resounding yes. Your inclination to stay in may have held you back in the past, so this year, allot more time for social outings. With the right attitude and the right people, anything's fun.
LEO (JULY 23-AUGUST 22)
Save more money. Leos are the life of the party, which, though not a bad thing, can get pricey. Your social nature and affinity for expensive goods have made you a big spender in the past. In the months ahead, make a concerted effort to save a certain percentage of what you earn.
VIRGO (AUGUST 23-SEPTEMBER 22)
Practice clean eating. Virgos tend to enjoy health and cleanliness more so than the other zodiac signs, so combine these two interests in a year of clean eating. Lucky for you, it's easier than ever to healthfully indulge. (Don't worry — you can still eat cinnamon rolls!)
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23-OCTOBER 22)
Forgive. The hairdresser who botched your bangs? Forgive him. The ex who dumped you on Valentine's Day? Forgive her. Libras are notorious for their grudge-holding, so this year, you're letting it all go. This year, make a point of reconciling as many relationships as possible.
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23-NOVEMBER 21)
Keep a journal. Scorpios are known for their passion and sensitivity, so this year, you're challenged to channel your emotions onto the pages of a diary. Write daily, no matter if it's fiction, poetry, or what you had for breakfast. You never know what will come of it.
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22-DECEMBER 21)
Travel when you can. Those who are Sagittarius hate being constrained — this year, don't be. In 2021, make the most of your vacation days by using them to unplug. Virtually or IRL, see parts of the country, world, or even just your city that you've never before seen.
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22-JANUARY 19)
Try a new hobby. Capricorns are disciplined and hardworking, often leaving the fun for last. We urge you to toss tradition to the wayside and try something new — something you've always wanted to do. Whether it's photography or yoga, there's an activity out there for you.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20-FEBRUARY 18)
Volunteer more. Aquarius, you and your humanitarian heart should spend this year working for a cause or a charity you're passionate about — even if it's just once a month. The difference you'll see yourself making will leave you feeling fulfilled and proud in the new year.
PISCES (FEBRUARY 19-MARCH 20)
Spend more time with loved ones. You love your alone time, but your family and friends love you. Invite your mom on your morning walk. Ask an old roommate to study with you. In the new year, surround yourself with the ones who are special to you, even if it means occasionally sacrificing your solitude.
