Zoe Saldana’s Workout Selfie Is Starting a Movement With Moms
Zoe Saldana and her artist husband Marco Perego had their twin boys Bowie Ezio and Cy Aridio (talk about super cool baby names) last November. The genetically-blessed family has since been busy charming the socks off of the Internet with all of their adorable family moments that Zoe shares on her Instagram account for all of us to enjoy (thanks, Zoe <3). But there’s another place that the superstar has been getting busy — the gym.
She posted this photo of herself in the gym on her Facebook page along with the caption: “Almost there! It’s been difficult but so rewarding. I feel strong. All it takes is determination! Mommies, we can all do it, damn it!!”
While we’re feeling the motivation from this shot (baby or not) there are commenters who fall on both sides of the fence. Some are saying that it’s not fair for a celebrity who has the means to hire sitters and nannies and all the best workout and nutritional tools at their disposal to post photos like these. There has also been a wave of responses from moms and other women who are cheering her and each other on — posting photos of their own trips to the gym or inspiration to get healthy.
Zoe was so touched by the positive comments her photo was getting, she followed up with this reply yesterday:
“Beautiful ladies, thank you for your positive comments. You have no idea the joy and pride I feel when I read your comments saying you feel inspired and want to do it for yourself. Please continue to share, I was inspired by so many mommies around me to get back into shape because they shared their journey with me. We are stronger when we stick together — wishing each other good, cheering each other along. So please continue to share, I do read your comments and I do see the pictures you post of yourselves. I am sending you love and good vibes always! Love you, ladies!!
Your sister,
Zoe”
Well put. A healthy lifestyle comes in many, many forms, and it certainly doesn’t always look like a size zero Hollywood actress, but it’s a journey that anyone and everyone can get on. You just have to find what works for you.
