Sarah Michelle Gellar Wants to Bake You Cupcakes
We’ve got a lot of exciting news for fans of Buffy and baking, so hold on to your butts! Our fave vampire slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, wants to help you out in the kitchen. She just announced that she’s launching a cooking and lifestyle brand called Foodstirs, which creates food-crafting kits and baking mixes that come with all the kitchen tools and ingredients you need to make cute, Pinterest-able treats.
The actress and momma of two told People that the idea for the kits was inspired by a baking playdate mishap: “We went to the supermarket to get a mix and were really surprised that there was no better-for-you baking option.” You’ll only find non-GMO ingredients in Foodstirs kits, with no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. According to People, the kits will go on sale this October on Foodstirs’s website, just in time for some spooky baking!
Oh, and if the name Foodstirs sounds familiar, it’s because we featured Sarah Michelle’s co-founder Galit Laibow as our #MakerCrushMonday last winter. Like Galit, SMG is a huge fan of #foodcrafting with her kids, so their partnership seems like a match made in heaven.
On the heels of her Foodstirs announcement, Sarah Michelle will be this year’s closing keynote speaker at #BlogHerFood15. The conference, taking place this November, is all about the community of food-content creators. We’re hoping we’ll hear lots of SMG’s advice on starting a business and bringing the fam together in creative ways. Slayer, mom, baker and now an industry-recognized entrepreneur. Who would’ve guessed playing Buffy was just the beginning of SMG’s ass-kicking?!
With all this cooking news coming from the Gellar-Prinze house, you might assume Sarah Michelle’s the one in charge of the kitchen. But it’s actually her husband running the culinary show. Little known fact: FPJ was enrolled in culinary school before his acting career took off. So he’s returning to his roots with a cookbook called Back to the Kitchen. He told E! News it’s filled with “fresh, healthy and easy-to-make recipes my family and I love.”
We’re so excited to see all of their projects come together — and a little exhausted! How do these two do it, especially with their busy acting schedules? Well, considering they just celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary, it seems pretty clear that the couple that cooks together, stays together. While you’re waiting for SMG’s batch of kits and FPJ’s book to launch, you can sign up for the Foodstirs newsletter and follow their Instagram (with hopefully lots more SMG cameos).
What food-crafting kits and recipes do you want to see from SMG and FPJ? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
